Japan’s veteran dance producer HIROSHI WATANABE aka KAITO is that familiar whisper in the centre of KOMPAKT’s kaleidoscopic strobe light to the many loyalists that know us well. To think it has been over 8 years since he dropped the unsuspecting masterpiece “Beautiful Day” on our doorsteps makes us as giddy as the realization that we have watched his son grow up having graced the cover of nearly all 13 releases for the label. KAITO remains one of Japan’s biggest dance producers and undeniably one of the most respected artists from Asia remaining a top 3 best selling artist in Japan, USA and Greece for KOMPAKT. The silhouette of his son on the cover of “TRUST” signifies a change of pace for KAITO…dare we say WATANABE has created one of his most matured and meditative releases to date. Fear not, the euphoria remains – KAITO continues to flow through his melodies with a remarkable ease and grace that is rarely heard by producers of today. Throughout “TRUST”, KAITO seems to want to draw the listener into an aura of introspectiveness – an elative earnestness that signifies true growth and a change of pace for this talent that is sure to be welcomed by many considering these serious times and certain to draw new fans to his already full table. Another classic moment for KOMPAKT from one of our most endearing producers.

tout d’abord signé sur CLOSER MUSIK puis BROKE, il sort aujourd’hui son second album sur le prestigieux label KOMPAKT. depuis un an Matias est l’un des producteurs, artistes les plus en vue du milieu électro et après une série de maxis qui a défrayé la chronique il sort enfin son nouvel album qui selon les dires des boss de KOMPAKT est certainement l’album le plus audacieux jamais produit par KOMPAKT. Aussi original que GUI BORATTO, mais vocal à 100% « Ay Ay Ay » déclenche déjà les acclamations, puisqu’après une écoute à Cologne dans les studios de KOMPAKT, le rédac chef de TRAX en fait SA COUVERTURE pour son numéro d’ OCTOBRE. ATTENTION la couv de l’album est signée TREVOR JACKSON !
Chilean born, German raised MATIAS AGUAYO is one of those rare talents you come across that genuinely works in music for the sake of loving music. KOMPAKT’s long, love affair with MATIAS AGUAYO runs all the way back to his first official act (together with Dirk Leyers) as CLOSER MUSIK back in 2000. To call “Ay Ay Ay” ambitious would be an understatement – we can proudly state that MATIAS AGUAYO has managed to accomplish a rare achievement in music today – come up with a recording that is undeniably all his own and a landmark release for KOMPAKT.
Le groupe électronique islandais Gus Gus se forme à Reykjavik en 1995. A la base, le groupe est conçu pour des activités cinématographiques. Il comprend alors les réalisateurs Stefan Arni et Siggi Kjartansson. La formation s’élargit avec l’arrivée progressive du DJ Herb Legowitz, du programmeur Biggi Thorarinsson, des chanteurs / compositeurs Daniel Agust, Hafdis Huld et Magnus Jonsson et du producteur Baldur Stefansson. Après avoir signé des maxis intitulés Club mix EP, Gus Gus enregistre son premier album Polydistortion en 1997. Suivent les albums This is Normal en 1999 et Gus Gus vs the world en l’an 2000. Ils reviennent à l’été 2002 avec Attention et en mars 2007 sort Forever.
“You could compare GusGus´s 6th studio album with a whale. An animal that spends most of it´s time under the surface, but when it comes up above sea-level, it usually surfaces with a magnificent speciality – much like the latest GusGus creation. Therefore, you should not glean over this work; every moment of it is laid out with painstaking and elaborate candour. 24/7 is a wet dream The spine of the music is original, created in the “intestines” of GusGus. “On the Job” is the working man´s phrenetic song to the unbroken animal called love. The opus “Thin Ice´” describes the bloated donkey dancing on ice. And in “Add This Song” the listener is encouraged to add that particular song to his collection. The GusGus analogue sound environment has never been better, and Daniel Agust´s vocals take the reigns again and thus opens the group’s variability to new heights. As on previous occasions GusGus performs a song written by Jimi Tenor, the fantastic “Take me Baby” where Jimi Tenor is a guest singer. ”Hateful” is a pretty family-type song that GusGus and Aaron-Carl composed together while being on different sides of the Atlantic.”

Spanning the course of 2 CD’s and 3LP’s, TOTAL 10 aims to be the collection of essential tunes from our catalogue and highlights exclusive, new music from the likes of DJ KOZE, THOMAS/MAYER, JUERGEN PAAPE, WASSERMANN aka WOLFGANG VOIGT and others. What one immediately will notice in comparison to other editions is the inclusion of remixes….the likes of IVAN SMAGGHE & TIM PARIS aka IT’S A FINE LINE tackling the likes of BURGER/VOIGT, GUI BORATTO’s remix of SAM TAYLOR WOOD produced by PET SHOP BOYS, THOMAS FEHLMANN’s stunning impression of THE FIELD and of course finally available, the lost remix of GOTYE’s hit “Heart’s A Mess” by SUPERMAYER. Expect the unexpected this year, TOTAL 10 promises to be one of the most diverse collections of tracks the label has ever brought forward in our history.
